About us
Our Work in the Community
GCF is a Quebec non-profit organization with an extensive history in the Greater Montreal region. For nearly two decades, long before it had the name GCF, the volunteers of the organization have met the needs of food insecure individuals and families, as well as, socially excluded individuals by providing over 45,000 free holiday meals and a location for socially excluded individuals to meet and interact with their peers. As a provincially incorporated non-profit organization in Montreal that believes in helping communities thrive. We believe that all communities deserve opportunities to learn new skills or improve on existing ones to become productive members of society. Our goal is to equip individuals with the tools needed to succeed within their communities and teach them how to become leaders within their own homes or businesses. We believe if you are part of a community, you should feel like your voice matters. That’s why we focus on empowering our community members through education so they can make informed decisions about their future. |
Nurturing, empowering, and sustaining our community to independence involves providing support and resources to help the community members develop the skills and knowledge they need to become self-sufficient. We do this by providing education and training programs, access to healthcare and other social services, and opportunities for economic development. Additionally, it involves creating a sense of ownership and pride in the community, and fostering a culture of collaboration and mutual support among community members. Ultimately, the goal is to help the community achieve self-sufficiency and independence. Our mission is to nurture and empower our members so they can achieve their own independence, and support them in their ambitions to become leaders in their communities. We work with youth, young adults, seniors, and families to help them build skills that will allow them to thrive in today’s economy and society. |
