Youth Programming
Genesis Community Foundation provides a wide range of activities, events, and resources specifically designed for young people, between the ages of 12 and 24.
These programs and services include both formal and informal learning opportunities, as well as recreational and social activities. The goal of youth programs and services is to support the positive development of young people by providing them with opportunities to learn, grow, and engage with the community.
Overall, youth programs and services aim to support young people to reach their full potential, become active and engaged citizens, and contribute to the development of our community.
- Skill-building programs such as job training, apprenticeships, and entrepreneurship training
- Mentoring and leadership programs that connect young people with adult role models and provide opportunities to develop leadership skills
- Arts and cultural activities such as music, drama, and visual arts programs
- Advocacy and youth-led initiatives that empower young people to take an active role in addressing the issues that affect their communities.
PHOENIX: Life Skills Training
The Life Skills Training program uses developmentally appropriate, collaborative learning strategies to help students achieve competency in the skills that have been shown to prevent substance use, violence, and other health risk behaviors. LifeSkills Training is comprehensive, dynamic, and developmentally designed to promote mental health, social-emotional (SEL) skills and positive youth development. Through the development of self-awareness, competence and connection, LifeSkills Training helps students to be resilient in the face of life’s inevitable challenges. The program is designed for any school-aged child from 7th grade up through high school graduation.
LifeSkills Training uses a collaborative learning model as a foundation for helping adolescents develop competencies in their lives. It uses experiential activities, interactive games and hands-on exercises that invite students to explore and practice skills essential for healthy personal development. The program also incorporates thematic supports such as values education and service-learning opportunities into this dynamic curriculum.
Koncept: Art Show
Led by the youth of the community, the annual art show is an art exhibit or event that is organized, curated, and primarily created by young people. The goal of a youth-led art show is to provide young artists with an opportunity to showcase their work and gain recognition for their talents. Young artists take on various roles, such as curators, artists, designers, and event planners. They are responsible for selecting the artwork that will be included in the show, designing the exhibition space, and promoting the event. Some youth-led art shows may also include educational or skill-building components, such as workshops, artist talks, or youth-led panel discussions. The annual art show provide young artists with valuable experience in the arts and allow them to take an active role in shaping the cultural landscape of their communities. They also provide an opportunity for young people to share their perspectives and voice through art, and for community members to engage with and appreciate the work of young artists. |
Cushion Club for Youth
Cushion Club is a support group that aims to provide a safe and supportive environment for individuals who have experienced similar challenges. The group is culturally adapted and open to men, women, and children. The group’s purpose is to provide a space for individuals to share their experiences, offer support, and work through their challenges together.
